ROCKCLIMBING.COM divulga a via TRANSBAÚ - Brazilian Female Solo Ascent

Karina Filgueiras, a Brazilian climber recently performed the first female solo ascent opening of a Brazilian route. The route was named "Transbaú" (7a).

The route is 900ft long and requires 8 pitches to be climbed. At this length it is the longest route on the north face of Pedra do Baú, located in São Paulo, southeast Brazil.

Pedra do Baú is a popular climbing destination and is the highest rock face in the state.

Three weeks were spent in the project with much of the time revolving around preparation for the climb where supplies and equipment brought to the area. A few days were spent climbing the wall itself and the ascent was completed on the 07/08/2011.
